In 1994, he got his PhD in history at the Scientific-Research Institute of Cultural Studies in Russia. Almeev is the author of new theoretical model of the museum in modern conditions. He has written six books, including "Bukhara: City-Museum," "Bukharan Jews," and "Bukhara in Legends and Facts of History." Almeev has conducted 47 research works on museum management studies, history and ethnography. He has a good reputation in the international museum association, and his name is included in the "Scholars on History and Culture of Central Asia" reference book (Harvard University, USA, 1995). He has worked out scientific conception of developing the Bukharan handicraft, which is successfully being implemented until now. In 1995-1998, he chaired the "Umrboqiy Meros (Everlasting Heritage)" and "Ustozoda" craftsmen associations. In 1996, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Almeev became a member of the Public-Scientific Counsel to work out the history of Uzbekistan under the Academy of State and Civic Building. In 1998, he was elected a deputy chairman of the International Counsel of Museums (ICOM) of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Almeev has been awarded "Dostlik (Friendship)" order for his contribution to strengthen peace and stability, friendship and agreement among nations, and for his successes in different spheres of public life. He has also received the UNESCO's bronze medal for his active participation in reviving and developing the Great Silk Road. Almeev is married and has a daughter and two sons.
