MUSEUM OF HISTORY OF RESTORATION OF ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENTS OF BUKHARA,
THE ULUGHBEK MADRASAH (EARLY 15th c.)

The history of the madrasah and museum.

By Ulughbek's order three madrasahs were built in the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Gijduvan.

The Ulugbek madrasah in Bukhara was constructed in 1417 by Ismail ibn Isfaghani.
On the gates of the madrasah, there is an inscription saying, "Strive for knowledge is the duty of every Muslim man and Muslim woman." The Ulughbek madrasah was the center of secular and religious knowledge. The courses on theology, astronomy, philosophy, and mathematics were taught in the madrasah's classrooms.
